figure out는 무언가(또는 누군가)에 대해 이해할 때까지 생각하는 것을 나타냅니다. 또한 무언가의 금액 또는 단가를 산출하는 것을 나타내기도 합니다.

figure out는 구동사이며 품사는 동사입니다. figure out의 대략적인 의미는 「(생각한 끝에) ~을 이해하다[알아내다], (양/비용을) 계산[산출]하다, 계산해 내다, 생각해 내다, 이해하다.」입니다. 아래의 자료는 figure out에 대해 사전에 나와 있는 자료를 보기 편하게 정리한 것들입니다.

(1) (생각한 끝에) ~을 이해하다[알아내다]
We couldn't figure her out.

(2) (양/비용을) 계산[산출]하다

So, what we do is we throw these into the machine and then the machine figures out what are the characteristics of a real smile and what are the characteristics of a fake smile.
