Get through는 의미 변화의 폭이 비교적 커서 익히기가 쉽지 않습니다. 한영 사전에서 찾을 수 있있는 의미는 6개 정도지만 영영 사전에서 찾을 수 있는 의미는 현재 확인된 것만해도 15개 정도였습니다.

그러나 단어를 구성하는 불변화사 through가 갖고 있는 기본적 의미인 '통과'의 의미가 모든 문장에 녹아 있기 때문에 이를 염두에 두고 연습하면 꽤나 도움을 얻을 수 있습니다. 다음의 예를 보겠습니다.

I'd never have got through it all without you.
당신이 없었으면 내가 그 모든 것을 견뎌 내지 못했을 거예요.

I tried to call you but I couldn't get through.
내가 당신과 통화를 하려고 했지만 연결이 안 되더군요.

get through는 구동사이며 품사는 동사입니다. get through의 대략적인 의미는 「(많은 양을) 써 버리다, ~을 하다[끝내다], (~에게) 가 닿다[전달되다], (전화로 ~와) 연락이 닿다, (시험 등에) 합격하다[통과하다]」입니다. 아래의 자료는 get through에 대해 사전에 나와 있는 자료를 보기 편하게 정리한 것들입니다.
